Welcome to Year 2

We are a very welcoming team and are always happy to help. In year 2 there is Mrs Robinson and myself (Mr Ritchie)

Feel free, any night, to catch me to discuss your child and their work. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to email me and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Year 2 is a very important year. We are the top infants. We set the example to reception and year 1. I have to say, I've been so impressed with how we've started the year and how they've adapted  to longer lessons and challenging work. Expectations are high in Year 2 and they are trying extremely hard to meet them. Well Done Year 2!

Mr Ritchie

Subjects

Maths

Maths in year 2 is very different this year. As a school we have invested in Maths No Problem. This scheme allows children to really apply themselves in their learning. The scheme is very challenging yet rewarding and the class have responded very well to the level of challenge. Check out our weekly images of lessons.

English

The children have really settled into year 2 English and are very willing to apply the teaching in their work. We always strive to push children to have a go and play around with their sentence structure and vocabulary. In English this half term we are looking at traditional tales with a twist, instructions and poems. Have a look and see what we have been doing lately.

Science

We are very much into the unit of animals and humans. The children have covered how animals and humans develop throughout their lives and what contributes to this. We've had a big focus on being healthy as part of our topic for the half term (Fighting Fit). The children are currently learning about germs and medicines in our lessons. Take and a look and see what we have been doing.

Homework

Homework in year 2 should be short and fun. It will consist of arithmetic questions for maths, pieces of writing around a theme for English and spelling practice to be completed in their spelling books.
