Hello and welcome to Year 5! We have a fantastic team in Year 5 and we all work together to make sure we're having as much fun as we can whilst we're learning! I'm Miss Bamber and I work closely with Mrs Skuse, Mrs Riley and Miss Gough to ensure you reach your full potential.
We believe that an open door policy is the best policy, so if you would like to discuss your child's progress or take a look at work in their book, please come to see me at the end of the day. Alternatively, feel free to email using the above address and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
We look forward to working with you and the children during the next 12 months.
Miss Bamber and the Year 5 team
Year 5 have PE on Wednesday lunchtime and Thursday afternoon. Please remember to come into school wearing a suitable PE kit for the day - hair up, earrings out etc. We are hoping to maybe start back up our swimming lessons in October but this is affected by many things. We will let you know as soon as we have a final decision.
You are more than welcome to bring in a water bottle into school. Please fill your water bottle up at home and leave it in the green box near the sink.
We are working hard to keep you as safe as we can in school. This includes washing your hands when you enter the classroom. Many of you have asked in you can bring in your own hand sanitiser that you keep in your trays and this is absolutely fine with me! :)
To follow... :)
SeeSaw has been a great hit with you all! THANK YOU so much your enthusiasm. As the term progresses, I will be adding challenges and activities to your Seesaw APP. This will be done each week. I will of course be checking that this is done and if you are having problems with any technology at home then you are always welcome to use the back computers after school (we will clean keyboards and stations after ever user has finished!)
Homework consists of:
Reading (20 minutes daily) - reading books will be handed out on a Monday. These books are to stay at home and be brought back on a Friday. You will get a new book on the following Monday.
Spellings - Y5 expectations list (15)
Times tables - personal challenges
A piece of Maths or English that link's to the topics that have been focused on in class that week.
If you have any problems with homework, or you are struggling, please email or send a message on SeeSaw and an adult will help you the best we can. Good luck and happy homeworking!!
YEAR 5'S AUTUMN 1 CLASS NOVEL IS...
by C.S. Lewis.
Can you predict what you think will happen in the book?
Can you discuss the character of Lucy to someone at home?
Can you compare this book to another story that you might know and explain similarities and differences within the themes?
